INTRODUCTION
In this lesson we're going to work on getting your package one step closer to its intended destination. In the previous lesson, we discussed the phrase Chci poslat tenhle balík do Francie meaning "I want to send this package to France.”
GRAMMAR POINT
Let’s hear it one more time:
(slow) Chci pos-lat ten-hle ba-lík do Fran-ci-e.
Chci poslat tenhle balík do Francie.
Of course we can replace France with the name of any other country.
When sending a package, though, you will be asked what is inside the package. In Czech, "What's in the package?" is Co je uvnitř?
Let’s break it down:
(slow) Co je uv-nitř?
Once more:
Co je uvnitř?
The first word, Co, means “what”.
(slow) Co.
Co.
Then, we have the word je which is a form of the verb that means “to be”.
(slow) Je.
Je.
And next we have the word uvnitř, meaning“inside”.
(slow) Uv-nitř.
Uvnitř.
All together, it’s
(slow) Co je uv-nitř?
Once more:
Co je uvnitř?
Literally it means “what is inside?” in English.
When you’re not sure what to name items, use English words. That’s acceptable in the Czech Republic.

Let’s break it down:
(slow) Chce-te to pos-lat pri-o-rit-ně nebo nor-mál-ně?
Once more:
Chcete to poslat prioritně nebo normálně?
The first word chcete, means something like “you want”.
(slow) Chce-te.
Chcete.
The second word to means “it”.
Then you have poslat meaning “to send”.
(slow) Pos-lat.
Poslat.
Next we have prioritně, which means“priority”.
(slow) Pri-o-rit-ně.
Prioritně.
After that we have nebo meaning “or”
(slow) Ne-bo.
Nebo.
At the end we have normálně, the Czech word for “normal”.
(slow) Nor-mál-ně.
Normálně.
All together, we have:
(slow) Chce-te to pos-lat pri-o-rit-ně ne-bo nor-mál-ně?
Chcete to poslat prioritně nebo normálně?
You may also be asked Chcete to poslat expresně nebo normálně? which means “Do you want to send it express, or normally?”
The word prioritně was replaced with expresně , the Czech word meaning “express”.
