Hello Anthony Earl-Williams,

yes, you are right. English used here is American English. We hope this won't stop you from learning Czech with us😜! Let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Anna

koupelna is bathroom

zachod is lavatory

I realise now that this must be an American Czech course, since American English is NOT English!!

Wow, I first looked at this page when I started in August, thinking I'll never learn any of these phrases..and now I just went through it again for the first time since then, and I knew almost all of these! Thanks for a great program!

To Mike, when you say r and th combined, do you mean th as in THe or as in wiTH?

To me ř sounds like oo-r-j-eh with the j being an English "j-j-jay" sound of course. I heard it described as the -sure- sound in treasure too.

Not sure if I'll ever get that sound to come out of my mouth right...

Dear Mike,

That's actually quite true. Thank you for sharing it, maybe it helps others with their pronunciation of "ř"! 👍

Cheers,

Bára
