Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you good at?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about what you’re good at doing.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
V čem jsi dobrá?
Jsem dobrá v učení jazyků.
Once more with the English translation.
V čem jsi dobrá?
“What are you good at?”
Jsem dobrá v učení jazyků.
“I'm good at languages.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you good at?”
That's: V čem jsi dobrá?
Listen to it again: V čem jsi dobrá?, V čem jsi dobrá?
This Czech sentence literally translates as “In what are you good?” But it means “What are you good at?”.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Jsem dobrý v [skill]. / Jsem dobrá v [skill].
“I'm good at [skill].”
For example:
“I'm good at languages.”
Jsem dobrá v učení jazyků., Jsem dobrá v učení jazyků.
